ABOUT · FACILITIES AND COLLECTIONS
Facilities & Collections
ANDlab employs laboratory and teaching spaces, photographic and computing equipment, and contemporary digital tools to support archaeological documentation, field research, data analysis, and teaching. At the same time, it is developing collections and research resources that support the study and interpretation of the past.

01
Documentation
The Laboratory supports the systematic photographic and digital documentation of archaeological objects and research materials. The available equipment enables controlled photography, the production of high-resolution images, and the implementation of photogrammetric workflows for the creation of three-dimensional models.

Photographic equipment
Canon EOS RP · Canon EOS R8 · AKASO Brave 7

Document & image scanning
Flatbed scanner · film scanner

Studio photography
Kaiser R2 CP 24D · Godox PTY60130 · Photo Box · Turntable
02
Spatial Recording
The available equipment and digital tools support the collection, organisation, mapping, and spatial analysis of field data.

Fieldwork
Tablet PCs · portable workstations

Spatial recording
GIS · Photogrammetry

03
Data Analysis & Management
The Laboratory’s digital infrastructure supports image processing, the creation and analysis of three-dimensional models, spatial analysis, and research data management. It makes use both of specialised applications provided through the University of Patras and of open-source software solutions.

Knowledge management
Knowledge graphs · CIDOC CRM

Data analysis
GIS · PostgreSQL · R

3D processing
Blender · MeshLab
04
Research & Teaching Spaces
The Laboratory’s facilities are distributed across dedicated research and documentation spaces and shared teaching facilities within the Department of History and Archaeology. They support individual and collaborative research, practical training, workshops, and digitally enhanced teaching.

05
Collections & Resources
The Laboratory is developing thematic collections and research resources for archaeology and ancient studies. These materials are intended for use in research and teaching and bring together physical reference materials, bibliographic and archival resources, and digital data.

Library
Specialised publications on archaeology, ancient studies, and digital applications.

Teaching & comparative collections
Archaeological and educational materials for study and teaching.

Digital archives & databases
Digital resources, documentation archives, 3D models, and research data.
06
In Development
The development of ANDlab’s infrastructure is an ongoing process. In addition to strategic collaborations providing access to digital services and infrastructure, further enhancement of fieldwork, documentation, and digital processing equipment is planned in response to the Laboratory’s evolving research and teaching needs.

New workstations
Enhanced capacity for processing 3D and geospatial data.

UAV / drone
Aerial photography and photogrammetric documentation.

Specialised scanners
3D geometric documentation of archaeological sites and objects.

Surveying equipment
Enhanced capacity for topographic and geospatial recording.
