Alexandra Bartzoka is Assistant Professor of Ancient History in the Department of History – Archaeology at the University of Patras. She studied History and Archaeology at the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens and completed her doctoral dissertation at Université Paris Nanterre under a joint-supervision arrangement with the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens. Her doctoral research focused on the court of the Heliaia and on the relationship between justice and politics in ancient Athens. More broadly, her research interests concern the history of the ancient Greek world during the Archaic, Classical, and Hellenistic periods, with particular emphasis on the political and constitutional history of Archaic and Classical Athens and on the history of ancient Greek law. Her work also examines concepts of justice and politics, as well as the historical phenomenon of “change” in Greek city-states of the Archaic and Classical periods, connecting institutional history with the study of political and social transformations.
